We’re Joining WellMed

1. Will I need to change my PCP during this transition? 
Your Primary Care Provider (PCP) will not change. WellMed and Southwest Orlando Family Medicine are committed to a seamless transition for patients. Access to your PCP and our full range of services is important. Patients can trust that their provider and care team will continue to care for them in the same friendly and courteous manner that they have grown accustomed to over the years.

2. Will Southwest Orlando Family Medicine be changing names?
Not immediately, you may hear our office staff refer to both names in the course of your care in the coming weeks, and over time we will be moving to the WellMed name, but this name change will not impact your care or your physician.

3. Will my specialists be aware of the change to the clinic name?
Please continue to share the name of your PCP with these important health care partners.

4. Will any contact numbers change?
Our phone number will not change, we continue to serve you at 407-352-9717, or via fax at 407-354-5425.

5. Does this mean you will only take Medicare Patients?
No. Southwest Orlando Family Medicine will continue to provide care to both Medicare patients and non-Medicare patients. We have been faithfully serving the healthcare needs of our community’s children, adolescents, adults, and seniors since 1989 and will continue to do so.

6. I thought WellMed was a Medicare Advantage Insurance, can you clarify?
WellMed, a division of Optum Care, is a physician led organization. At its core, WellMed is a group of more than 25,880 contracted and employed physicians and specialist in over 14,057 locations, focused on delivering quality health care working in a primary-care centered environment. WellMed is diversified health care company with medical clinics, medical management, Management Service Organization (MSO) operations, quality and risk adjustment divisions and more. WellMed and Southwest Orlando Family Medicine have come together and are dedicated to improving the health care of greater Orlando This partnership allows our organizations to combine the talents of our physicians, care teams and proven best practices to deliver quality health care to our patients and our community.

7. Are you still accepting new patients?

8. Will I still be able to get my labs drawn on site?
We will continue to provide the Clinic Services you have come to know and expect. As a reminder these services include:

On-site services: Laboratory
Quality health care focused on prevention
Personalized, detailed appointments
Languages spoken: English, Spanish, Tagalog, French, Arabic, Armenian, Hindi and Translation Services
Online video appointments

9. Will you still be performing diagnostics on site?
Yes. We will continue to provide the Clinic Services you have come to know and expect.

10. Will I be able to see my same clinicians?
Yes. Our list of physicians will not change. Over time, you may see a change in the clinic name from Southwest Orlando Family Medicine to WellMed, but the care you know and trust will remain the same.
